Position Statements

Formal positions taken by kratom.com on key regulatory questions. These inform our product decisions and our public-comment submissions on proposed legislation.

Full downloadable PDFs of each position paper are in preparation. Citations and supporting evidence are maintained alongside the Scientific Literature library.

On scheduling of whole-leaf kratom

Opposed. kratom.com supports regulation over prohibition.

Scheduling whole-leaf kratom would remove a category of botanical products that the current peer-reviewed literature does not support classifying as Schedule I. The Kratom Consumer Protection Act framework offers a proportionate alternative that addresses adulteration and youth access.

On isolated and synthetic 7-hydroxymitragynine products

Kratom.com does not sell these products and supports their distinct regulatory treatment.

Concentrated 7-OH products — including synthetic variants and extracts taken well beyond natural leaf ratios — are a distinct product category requiring their own regulatory treatment. Federal action targeting these products specifically should not be conflated with action on whole-leaf material.

On age restrictions

Supported. 21 years of age minimum at kratom.com.

kratom.com restricts all purchases (D2C and wholesale downstream) to buyers 21 or older, regardless of state minimums. We support state-level age-gating legislation at 21.

On testing and labelling standards

Supported. kratom.com meets the AKA GMP standard and provides lot-level CoAs.

Consumer product safety requires third-party testing for heavy metals, microbial contamination, adulteration, and alkaloid content, with lot-level certificates of analysis available to purchasers. kratom.com supports mandatory adoption of these standards.
